CatholicCare NT is a not-for-profit organisation, providing social services and programs to individuals, couples, families, children, groups, schools and agencies across the Northern Territory.
About our Program
CatholicCare NT’s counselling program delivers several Family and Relationship programs throughout the NT. Our counselling team aims to enable children, young people, and adults in all their diversity to develop and sustain safe, supportive, and nurturing family relationships, and reduce the emotional, social, and economic costs associated with disruption to family relationships.
About the Opportunity
The role of the Children’s Counsellor works within a cohesive and integrated team, providing high quality, responsive and culturally appropriate counselling services. The role provides counselling and group work services to vulnerable children and young people which is to be delivered within a family focused framework. This role can include outreach service delivery to ensure the need of the most vulnerable populations are met.
What we are looking for:
- Relevant qualifications (Counselling, Psychology or Social Work)
- Demonstrated experience in therapeutic child and adolescent counselling and group work.
- Membership of a governing body such as PACFA, AASW or ACA.
- Demonstrated competence in using a broad range of evidence-based counselling and group work approaches to support client outcomes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including case note writing
- Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly in working with Indigenous people
- Specialised qualifications in child/adolescent/ mental health/ counselling desirable
