JOB DESCRIPTION

Insight Therapies Counselling and Consultancy is seeking a skilled children’s counsellor who is as passionate as we are about using play and creative interventions to support people children by trauma. The successful applicant will deliver one-on-one and family/dyadic therapy as well as deliver school and office based group group work.

You will be joining a team of truly dedicated therapists who operate within a well respected and successful practice with a clear vision and mission to positively impact the lives of children, adults and families. Our lead therapist Anita Geary is a well respected professional in the field of Animal Assisted Therapy with experiences in presenting on the topic at national conferences, listing PACFA approved AAT trainings and is a registered supervision provider with AASW. All of this experience and mentorship is available to the successful applicant should you be interested in becoming a certified AAT therapist or accredited mental health social worker.

About the Role:

Insight Therapies Counselling and Consultancy is a well respected leader in therapeutic care to those who are struggling as a result of exposure to trauma. The role we are looking to fill requires a therapist with skills and knowledge to support those with trauma backgrounds such as clients referred through Victims of Crime, Child Protective Services and Out of Home Care Services as well as complex clients across the lifespan. To meet the needs of this vulnerable community, our practice is on the look-out for an experienced therapist to join our dynamic team on a part-time, 30 hour per week basis (negotiable).  

 

About You:

Base requirements for candidates interested in applying this position are:

  • Bachelor Degree or higher in Social Work, Counselling, Mental Health Occupational Therapy or Psychology
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team environment
  • Dedication to providing high-quality counselling to all clients
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Trained and skilled in victims’ assistance/recovery
  • Ability to develop and facilitate therapy group programs
  • Passion to actively engage in building a strong therapeutic service which aims to meet the needs of the community
  • Love for animals and strong interest in being trained to deliver Animal Assisted Therapy (preferred but not necessary)
