THE ORGANISATION

PGCNV is one of the primary providers of family and domestic violence services in the Northern Corridor, which includes Three Safe Accommodation sites. 

Our reputation is driven by our commitment to providing a high-quality client focused sustainable service to clients accessing our suite of programs and services.

In addition to the provision of accommodation services, PGCNV ensures timely and effective provision of advocacy, referral information and support to women and their children seeking relief from the impact of domestic violence.

ROLE PURPOSE 

Due recent changes with our services, a unique opportunity now exists for a part-time Children’s Counsellor to become part of the team developing and delivering PGCNV’s clinical services.

The Children’s Counselling role is part of the team providing counselling and therapeutic services for children who access our services.  We are seeking individuals who are extremely passionate about helping FDV clients and who have an understanding of FDV and the impacts on children to rebuild their lives.  

The successful candidates will be committed to providing evidence-based practice and are passionate about being part of a values driven team.

You will work as part of a true interdisciplinary team and be responsible for delivering evidence-based services to help our clients achieve their goals and get back to doing things that matter to them. 

You will have access to resources to help your clients achieve the best possible rehabilitation outcomes, and most importantly, your work will matter and be recognised.

KEY DELIVERY AREAS INCLUDE:

  • You will be responsible for the delivery of clinical services to FDV clients that reflect evidence-based practice and excellent client outcomes
  • Be an active participating team member delivering evidence based clinical intervention
  • Work effectively and demonstrate effective teamwork, professionalism and exceptional communication skills to ensure best outcomes for the client
  • Ensure systems are in situ to enable, clear communication of role expectations, responsibilities, standards, and accountability is understood by all staff,
  • Ensure data collection of client and program records are accurate, up to date and stored as required for compliance with confidentiality and privacy requirements.
  • Contribute to and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of group programs.

COMPETENCIES: 

  • Understanding of FDV and its impacts on women and children, family functioning, and children’s wellbeing and development.
  • Child development knowledge and experience in working with children and the development of child-centred programs.
  • You have advanced knowledge of best practice in supporting FDV Clients 
  • You have a friendly, results focused disposition and are able to work collaboratively as part of a interdisciplinary team
  • You display genuine empathy, compassion, patience and an interest in your clients’ needs
  • You have excellent communication skills both written and verbal. This is extremely important to us
  • You have integrity; you are trustworthy and honest
  • You are love working in a fast-paced environment. We are a busy organisation and the role will require you to be comfortable with multi-tasking
  • You are comfortable working both independently and also collaboratively across all the services/programs at PGCNV
  • You are resourceful – if you don’t have the answer, you go out and find it
  • You have a positive, can-do attitude and a great sense of humour. You bring energy to the room and love to have fun at work

QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Psychology, counselling or (or equivalent)
  • Current National Police Check
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • AHPRA, ACA or PACFA Registration
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Proof of right to work in Australia (Passport, Birth Certificate, Visa)
  • A current and unrestricted Driver’s License
  • COVID Vaccination (or exception)
