Children’s Counsellor, Supporting Children After Separation UnitingCare Community

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a suitably qualified individual to join the Supporting Children After Separation (SCaSP) team in Ipswich and may be required to work outreach. The position is permanent part time, 3 days a week.  The SCaSP program offers individual therapeutic counselling and group work, to children and young people, aged between 5-18, who have experienced family separation. 

As a part of this role you will be required to:

  • Undertake assessments and counselling to assist children and young people manage their relationships during and after family separation.
  • Advocate for clients and provide suitable referrals if required.
  • Utilise recognised counselling approaches to assist clients achieve their goals.
  • Prepare written and oral reports relating to; client matters (e.g. case notes, referrals, case reviews) and statistical and administrative reports.
  • Provide group work to children.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling and eligibility for the relevant professional association.
  • A current drivers licence.
  • A current blue card.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
