About us
Dawn House provides emergency accommodation and support services to women with children escaping from domestic/ family violence. We are a small and dynamic team providing high quality services to women and children experiencing trauma as a result of domestic/ family violence. We work from a strength based approach and adheere to feminist principles around domestic and family violence.
Qualifications & experience
- Associate diploma/ Cert 4 with relevant experience
- Clear understanding of the impact of domestic/ family violence on children
- Knowledge of the Child Protection Act and mandatory reporting requirements
- Lesser formal qualifications with substantial years of relevant experience
- Clear understanding of causes and effects of domestic / family violence
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload
- Have (or the ability to gain) an Ochre Card
- Current NT drivers license
- Criminal history check
Tasks & responsibilities
- To assist children overcome the impact of having witnessed domestic and family violence
- Organise holiday programmes and children’s activities at the shelter
- Provide one on one and group work support to children staying at the shelter
- To provide support and education to mothers around parenting
- Link children and their mothers to support services as required
