  • Full Time Position (76 Fortnightly Hours). Fixed Term Contract 30 June 2024.
  • $72,197 per annum pro rata + Super + Salary Packaging* (to increase your take home pay).
  • Located in Hindmarsh.

The Safe and Well Kids service is a partnership involving Relationships Australia SA (RASA), Women’s Safety Services SA (WSSSA), and the Legal Services Commission (LSC). This initiative offers a comprehensive and holistic child-centered service for individuals aged 0 to 18 who have experienced family and domestic violence, with accompanying adults accessing WSSSA. Within this partnership, RASA delivers therapeutic services to children.

The RASA Safe and Well Kids Children’s Therapeutic Support Worker conducts intake procedures and child-focused assessments for individuals aged 0 to 18, referred to Safe and Well Kids. In conjunction with senior RASA staff, the worker develops a therapeutic plan and provides individual therapeutic programs to children within their caseload. Parents are partners in this work with their children and are provided with information and resources to support the therapeutic goals of the child and activities and advice to support their relationship with their child. The worker provides timely and appropriate information about their work to the staff from Legal Services Commission and Women’s Safety Services.

 

Who we are looking for

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications (AQF Level 7) in Early Childhood, Social Work, Counselling Group work, Youth work, Nursing, Mental Health or the equivalent experience.
  • Experience in working with children.
  • A Working with Children Check is essential and employment is not able to commence without a current clearance.

It would be a bonus if you have:

  • Experience in working with families in crisis or experiencing domestic violence.
  • Understanding of the effects of trauma on children and adults.
  • Experience in working with Aboriginal communities, families and services.

 

What you will be doing

  • Collaborate with SAWK team members to manage intake interviews and child-focused assessment processes for children and their caregivers referred to Safe and Well Kids.
  • Devise and implement personalized therapeutic programs for children.
  • Conduct intake and therapeutic sessions through home visits, school visits, RASA Telehealth, and telephone communication.
  • Work collaboratively within the SAWK therapeutic team to enhance clinical practices, therapeutic approaches, program methodologies, improve case management strategies, and establish effective referrals for families.
  • Maintain open communication with WSSSA Children’s Case Managers and the LSC Legal Advocate, who are collaborative partners in our work.
  • Utilize both the RASA Penelope system and Safe and Well datasheets to document therapeutic case plans, screenings, assessments, casework, and all necessary data.
