Who we are looking for
The Children’s Therapeutic Support Worker conducts intake and assessment interviews for children aged 0–12 who are referred to Together4Kids. This role requires a high level of communication skills to collaborate with senior staff to develop and implement individual therapeutic programs, and contribute to the therapeutic group programs. Also, to provide advice, information, and professional development in child-focused practice to practitioners and support staff in the Domestic Violence and Homelessness Sector.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications (AQF Level 7) in Early Childhood, Social Work, Counselling Group work, Youth work, Nursing, Mental Health or the equivalent experience.
- Experience in working with children.
- Knowledge of policies relating to the workplace and child safe practices.
- Ability to build professional relationships and work collaboratively with DV and Homelessness services along with other agencies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, their carers, colleagues and other worker in a culturally appropriate manner.
It would be a bonus if you have:
- Experience in working with families in crisis or experiencing domestic violence.
- Understanding of the effects of trauma on children and adults.
- Experience in working with Aboriginal communities, families and services.
What you will be doing
- Completing intake interviews and undertaking Child Focused Assessment processes for children and their care givers.
- Create personalized therapeutic programs for individual children, by undertaking responsibility for a case load.
- Work collaboratively with team members to develop clinical practice, therapeutic approaches, program methodologies, improve case management strategies, and establish effective and suitable referrals for families.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of professional development training sessions in Child Focused Practice to the DV and homelessness sector workers.
- Proficient in using both RASA’s Penelope system as well as the sector data collection system, H2H, to record case work and data accurately.
