  • Full Time Position (76 Fortnightly Hours). Fixed Term Contract Ending 30 June 2024.
  • $83,275 per annum pro rata + Super + Salary Packaging* (to increase your take home pay)
  • Located in Hindmarsh.

The Safe and Well Kids service is a partnership between Relationships Australia SA (RASA), Women’s Safety Services SA (WSSSA) and Legal Services Commission (LSC), providing holistic child centred services for children 0 – 18 years who have experienced family and domestic violence, accompanying adults accessing WSSSA. RASA provides therapeutic services to children as part of this partnership.

The RASA Safe and Well Kids Children’s Therapeutic Worker undertakes intake and child focused assessments of children aged 0 – 18 years, who have experienced family and domestic violence, providing individual therapeutic programs to each child and contributes to the development and facilitation of therapeutic family group programs.

Liaising with and working in partnership with WSSSA Children’s Case Workers and Legal Services Commission Children’s Legal Advocate is integral to the role to ensure referred families and children receive holistic support and appropriate referral pathways through the Safe and Well Kids service.

Who we are looking for

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (AQF Level 7) in Early Childhood, Social Work, Social Science, Human Services, Psychology, Health, Occupational Therapy or Midwifery OR a Certificate (AQF Level 4) or Diploma (AQF Level 5) in in Counselling, Infant Mental Health, Childhood Trauma and in delivering evidence based parenting programs with significant relevant experience.
  • Experience in working therapeutically with children and families experiencing FDV.

It would be a bonus if you have:

  • Certificate Infant Mental Health
  • Graduate Certificate Childhood Trauma
  • Experience in working with families in crisis or experiencing domestic violence and homelessness.
  • Understanding of the effects of trauma on infants, children and adults.
  • Experience in working with Aboriginal communities, families and services.
  • Knowledge and experience of restorative practices

 

What you will be doing

  • Conduct intake interviews, Child Focused Assessments, and evaluations for children and their caregivers referred to RASA SAWK.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using RASA DOORS and Kids DOORS screening tools, as well as various assessment and outcome tools within SAWK, to develop child-centered therapeutic goals, develop case plans, and gather evaluations.
  • Deliver customized therapeutic programs to individual children in the home, schools or other locations by undertaking responsibility for a case load.
  • Provide parents and caregivers with relevant and timely support, offering resources and psycho-education to assist them in supporting their children effectively.
  • Collaborate within the team to enhance clinical practices, therapeutic approaches, program methodologies, case management strategies, and establish effective referrals for families.
  • Facilitate warm referrals to relevant RASA and external services and programs, particularly Family Mental Health Services and Children and Parenting Services in the metropolitan region, ensuring all families receive appropriate and timely referrals upon exiting RASA SAWK.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of professional development training sessions, focusing on child-focused practices, trauma-responsive service delivery, and therapeutic approaches.
