Hader Clinic Queensland’s treatment focus is to support individuals to move from alcohol and other drug use to abstinence.  While abstinence is the goal, Hader Clinic Queensland also aims to support those individuals to become fully functional members of their family and the broader community. 

Hader Clinic Queensland offers intensive treatment programs incorporating a 25 bed private hospital for detox and withdrawal and a 40 bed residential rehabilitation facility. To sustain long term recovery, Hader Clinic Queensland has a range of aftercare treatment options. 

About the role

Hader Clinic Queensland Private is seeking a Clinical Counsellor / Social Worker or Psychologist to join our team. This is a permanent part time position based at Gympie QLD.  By joining our multi- disciplinary team, you will have an opportunity to further develop your clinical skills both as an individual counsellor and group facilitator in the Alcohol and Other Drugs sector.

About you

We are seeking a candidate with tertiary qualifications and registration in psychology, counselling and or social work. You will have experience in the provision of assessment and counselling services preferably with AOD and Dual Diagnosis clients. You will also possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and effective relationship management skills.  A working with children check will also be a required to undertake the role.  

Description of Duties: 

1    Provide assessment, counselling and treatment plan implementation for individual clients with drug & alcohol issues in Hader Clinic QLD’s drug and alcohol rehabilitation program and for hospital patients.

2    Facilitate evidence based education sessions;

3    Participate in the clinical review process of the hospital; focus on best practice standards on drug and alcohol counselling, treatment and rehabilitation through quality case reviews; and of the treatment and rehabilitation interventions provided.

4    Foster close liaison within Hader Clinic Queensland to ensure integration and effective communication across program and service areas.

5    Develop and implement clear written treatment plans for each hospital patient and clients in the residential rehabilitation program. 

6    Ensure that all patient and client records are maintained according Privacy and Confidentiality laws

7    Participate in formal quality review programs, including accreditation programs and other quality improvement activities

8    Comply with the continuing professional education program or equivalent.

9    Comply with Hader Clinic Queensland Private policies and procedures. 

Qualifications:       

•    Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Counselling and or Social Work, with Medicare provider number and AHPRA or PACFA registration. 

Experience:

•   Preferred demonstrated experience working within the drug and alcohol rehabilitation and treatment sector.

•   Understanding of contemporary drug and alcohol counselling issues as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation practice.

  • Clinical experience in an area relevant to the alcohol and drug field.

•    Demonstrated understanding of and working in a “12 Step & Therapeutic Community Recovery Program”.

•    Advanced analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions as well as address specific challenges

•    Effective clinical report writing skills.

•    Competency in the use of word processing and other relevant computer applications.

•    Current drivers licence.

Highly Desirable:

•    Experience in AOD / MH sector
