Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds. headspace can help young people with mental health, physical health (including sexual health) alcohol and other drug services, and work and study support.
As Clinical Educator, you will supports the coordination, development and delivery of the student placement program and maintain relationships with relevant universities. The role provides senior clinical support for students and field supervision of headspace National graduates seconded to headspace by New Horizons. The clinical educator provides clinical supervision to students and graduates.
This is a Part-time position at Ashfield working Monday – Friday, 30.4 Hrs Fortnight, reporting to the Headspace Clinical Lead.
The role is maximum term until 30th June 2023.
Your Day to Day
Internally, you will collaborate and work closely with students on placement at headspace, the headspace team and where required, other employees and teams within New Horizons. Externally, you will liaise with universities and other key stake holders.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in Mental Health and risk assessment and knowledge of adolescent development and care for young people.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as highly developed interpersonal and consultative skills.
Essential Role Requirements and Employment Check Criteria
- AHPRA registration as a General or Clinical Psychologist OR Mental Health Occupational Therapist OR Registered Nurse OR Social Worker with eligibility for membership of the AASW
- Minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience post qualification and be eligible to provide clinical supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake assessment and initial screening activities to determine client care needs, provide counselling, produce assessment reports, and assist clients to access necessary services
- Demonstrated expertise in the leadership of a multi-disciplinary staff including the ability to lead the coordination of care for young people with complex needs including consultation and engagement with a wide range of professionals
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, work well under pressure, and manage communications and information with students and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to show innovation and flexibility to incorporate contemporary practice and enhance service delivery options to better meet client needs.
- National Criminal History Check (Police Check) and Working with Children Check.
- Valid NSW drivers’ licence, with ability to drive vehicles in licence C class, including large cars & vans.
- Vaccination against COVID-19 is a requirement for all positions (in accordance with Public Health Orders, Work Health and Safety and duty of care obligations for staff and participants/students).
