We started our operations in 2016 in ACT; now we are providing our services to NDIS participants in ACT, New South Wales and Queensland. We have Supported Independent Living (SIL), Short-Term Accommodation (STA), Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA), Support Coordination, Plan Management, Social community and home care support, Centre/ Community based Group activities. In our accommodation options (SIL, STA & MTA) and in the community we are supporting participants with complex mental health, challenging behaviours and other physical or medical conditions. 

Overview of the work area and position

This Clinical Lead – Mental Health position is based in the ACT and oversee the supports Greenleaf providing their participants in all regions. Works within a person-centred recovery model of mental health care. The person, who hold this position will a part of our leadership team.  In this position, the person will provide:

  • Intake assessment and profile matching for participants Psycho-social disabilities,
  • Recovery planning, assessment & Review
  • Clinical coordination and therapeutic interventions in conjunction with treating team
  • Liaise with hospital – community mental health team and other mental health stakeholders.
  • Build a strong mental health support team through coaching and mentoring with our support staff.
  • Provide guidance to the Accommodation coordinators for preparing ongoing monthly reports to their stakeholders and undertake quality check. 
  • Prepare annual SIL report for each participant for their NDIS plan review and prepare additional report as supporting evidence for participant’s change of situation (if needed).

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:

Mandatory: 
 * Applicant must have a bachelor or higher qualification in Social Work, Nursing and Psychology.

*Current membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers. or 

*Be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse or Psychologist. 

*More than 5 years post qualification experience in a mental health services, and 

*Excellent interpersonal communication and networking skills

*Excellent staff management – coaching and mentoring skills

Highly Desirable: 

• Minimum 3 years of hospital/ community mental health experience as a clinician

• Post Graduate Qualification in Mental Health Nursing/ Accreditation by AASW as Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. 

Job Specification:

  1. Provide a high level of appropriate intake clinical assessment and participants’ profile matching across our accommodation services.
  2. Advise the leadership team based on the professional expertise.
  3. Provide intensive support and management planning to support staff to assist in the ongoing care of participants with complex needs.
  4. Provide coaching and mentoring to the staff around mental health issues including the trainings and supervision on specific client’s behaviours.
  5. Consult and liaise with hospital, community mental health treating teams and other stakeholders to develop relationships for service delivery activities and business promotion.
  6. Liaise with participants, carers and other service providers to facilitate effective service provision.
  7. Contribute to the evaluation and analysis of policies and procedures applicable to professional practice.
  8. Provide professional supervision and training to support staff and placement students.
  9. Complete case notes and program records to standards required and meet reporting and data collection requirements.
  10. Initiate and coordinate quality improvement activities in mental health service delivery.
  11. Participate in ongoing professional education, supervision and personal performance review process.

  1. Demonstrate your clinical competence in collaborative assessment, planning, treatment and intervention of people with complex mental illnesses/ dysfunction.
  2. Demonstrate your understanding of principles of Recovery and implications for practice.
  3. Demonstrate your understanding of the National Standards for Mental Health Services and evidence of a sound knowledge of contemporary mental health issues and best practice approaches in mental health.
  4. Proven effective communication skills.
  5. Demonstrate your ability to provide supervision, coaching and mentoring to support staff.
  6. Demonstrate your ability to liaise/ network with hospital/ community mental health team and other stakeholders and maintain sustainable relationship.
  7. Demonstrated ability to consistently display commitment and compliance with high quality Customer service, workplace diversity, occupation health & safety principles, practices and relevant legislations relating to these areas.
