The Pandanus Unit will be a brand new adult inpatient service for the Sunshine Coast Mental Health Service opening in October with full capacity in February 2024. This is an exciting opportunity for dynamic nursing members to set a new ward culture and environment for people living with or experiencing mental illness.

The Nambour (NGH) Adult Inpatient Units (Bunya and Pandanus) are 16 bed wards providing welcoming care that is person centred, recovery oriented and evidence based. We focus on family and carer inclusion to achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients. Both units have an additional 4 Mental Health Intensive Care beds attached to support patients that require an increased level of care during their admission, meaning each unit has a total of 20 beds. Bunya and Pandanus are one component of an integrated service that provides contemporary care across all settings. Both units provide assessment and treatment to adults aged 18 to 65, who need short to medium term inpatient care.
