Position Summary

  • Join a highly skilled, dynamic and integrated mental health service
  • Permanent full time – 80 hours per fortnight (1 x ADO per month)   
  • Deliver specialised intervention & therapy for people with mental illness 

About the service

The Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Services (MHDAS), provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families.

The Therapy Services develops and provides specialist assessment, consultation and evidenced-based psychotherapies as part of consumer’s treatment within MHDAS. This includes dedicated allied health inputs, ASD services, comprehensive psychotherapy programs for personality disorders and/or a history of trauma, and a clinical psychology trainee program. The service contributes to increasing capacity across MHDAS to utilise and deliver specialist assessment and therapies.

About you

  • Experienced in the delivery of empirically supported treatment approaches for people with complex mental health and psychosocial needs
  • Completion of competency based training in one or more of the therapeutic approaches utilised by the MH therapy service (dialectical behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, mentalisation based therapy, cognitive processing therapy, eye movement desensitisation reprocessing)
  • Well-developed knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014 (Victoria)
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, continual improvement, risk management and occupational health and safety

About the role

Our clinical psychologists provide specialised input as part of our community intensive treatment teams, with a particular focus on neurodiversity.  This role provides opportunities to work in specialised personality and trauma treatment programs, and provide formulation based CBT for consumers with complex needs. You will work collaboratively with case management services, treating psychiatrists, peer workers and allied health specialists to deliver evidence based and innovative therapies.
