Our health centre’s are multi-disciplinary and child/family oriented focussing on the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and families. Our Team provides services to Hornsby, Gladesville, Mosman, Avalon Beach, Melbourne and surrounding suburbs and is made up of Clinical Psychologists and Registrars, Registered and Provisional Psychologists, Paediatricians, Speech Pathologist and Art Therapists

About the role

Spencer Health is excited to be offering opportunities to join our Graduate Program INTAKE for 2023, to obtain endorsement as a clinical psychologist. The graduate program is for clinical masters  graduates who are passionate about child and adolescent psychology, and who would like to pursue further training in this area of practice.

Because we have multiple sites, there are multiple opportunities available both regarding location and engagement (full time or part time).

There are limited positions available with competitive entry requirements.

Core duties associated with the role as a clinical psychology registrar will include psychological assessment and treatment services being delivered to children and adolescents presenting with a variety of mental health and developmental issues.   There are also opportunities to utilise and develop skills in cognitive, academic and behavioural assessment, parenting support, perinatal mental health, group therapies and more.

Our graduate program ensures that each Registrar meets all requirements to satisfy endorsement as a clinical psychologist at conclusion of the 2 years. This includes:

  • Individual supervision with principal supervisor,
  • Individual supervision with secondary supervisor (child assessment focus),
  • Group supervision,
  • Professional development through our Institute of Psychology and Child Development,
  • $1000 per 2 years to attend external PD in approved areas of interest,
  • Practice hours to satisfy AHPRA requirements.

Skills & experience

 

You will possess:

  • A recognised Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology  (or obtaining),
  • Registration (or eligibility) as a Psychologist with AHPRA ,
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with the APS,
  • Experience in OR a passion for the psychological assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with mental health disorders and developmental presentations,
  • Ability to work autonomously,
  • Excellent relationship building skills and customer service skills,
  • Good written and verbal communication skills,
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to assessment and treatment delivery,
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise.

You MAY possess (non-essential):

  • Experience in the assessment and support of clients with Autism and developmental disorders,
  • A desire to develop and promote yourself in a specific area of Paediatric Psychology (e.g. trauma, eating disorders etc).
