Clinical Support Specialist – 1800RESPECT Telstra Health

About the role:

The Clinical Support Specialist will be responsible for facilitating the required aspects of the day-to-day clinical functions of the 1800RESPECT clinical supervision, auditing, coaching and training. 

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Implement comprehensive training programs and materials to educate and prepare first response counsellors for their roles
  • Provide regular monthly coaching, feedback, and monthly clinical supervision to first response counsellors, helping them to continually improve their performance and enhance the quality of support they provide to individuals seeking support
  • Assess the performance of first response counsellors through various methods, such as call monitoring, case reviews, and evaluations, to identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Organize and facilitate ongoing professional development opportunities for first response counsellors, including workshops, seminars, and conferences
  • Develop and implement performance metrics and evaluation criteria to measure the effectiveness of training and coaching efforts, ensuring continuous improvement in the quality of support provided by the first response counsellors

 Shifts will be negotiated across a 24/7 roster, based on the service requirements which is based around demand for support, your preferences, and the preferences of other team members. You will receive shift penalties based on the shifts occurring across the evening, overnight, weekend and public holidays.

 About you: 

You must be able to meet the following criteria:

  • A completed minimum bachelors degree from an approved provider (Approved courses can be found via the relevant peak body)  
  • Minimum 4 years trauma counselling experience (preferably telephone counselling) or full-time equivalent experience in specialised sexual assault, domestic and family violence counselling 
  • Capacity to work and support staff, whilst remaining calm and embedding self-care practices
  • Ability to rapidly develop a thorough knowledge of 1800RESPECT’s delivery model, including counselling model, policies and procedures. 
  • A robust understanding of federal and state-based legislation, including child protection legislation relevant to service delivery.  
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of quality practice standards and understanding process involved in compliance

 Additional requirements: 

  • Be qualified counsellors registered with either the Australian Counselling Association (Level 3 or above) or psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA- Clinical); or be qualified social worker registered with full AASW membership; or be registered psychologists with AHPRA (General)
  • Hold Current Working with Children Checks, or the capacity to obtain prior to commencement
  • Hold Australian Citizenship  
  • Desirable: Have completed training and to be registered as a clinical supervisor with ACA, PACFA, AASW, AHPRA 
  • Ability to work flexibly, including working from home and the 1800RESPECT office location when required
  • A private room/space which can be used for your home office set up
  • Reliable internet connection
  • Willingness to work a variety of shifts and outside of normal business hours on occasions to meet operational requirements.
  • Strong computer skills (experience with using systems, MS Word, excel, outlook and internet)
