About the position
The Clinical Youth Navigator is a part-time (38 hours per fortnight) position for the fixed term contract ending June 2023 and involves service delivery and direct client contact within the Youth Portal program within the Mental Health and Wellbeing unit. This position also provides the opportunity to work flexibly across programs as needed within the Unit. The Clinical Youth Navigator works as an integral member of the Youth Portal team, reporting directly to the Team Leader, the Mental Health Advisor is required to work within the organisation’s strategic objectives, values, and outcomes.
The Clinical Youth Navigator role involves direct service delivery through the Youth Portal to young people, parents/carers, services, and professionals. As the Clinical Youth Navigator, you will respond to enquiries via phone, email, text, and web chat helping users navigate the portal and the mental health system in the ACT, providing information and referrals. As part of the service, there is also the provision of Active Hold which involves remaining a central point of contact for the user while they are on waitlists for services. The Clinical Youth Navigator may also provide ‘Clinical Active Hold’ through scheduled contact with users on the phone. These appointments may provide therapeutic support, behavioural or emotional regulation strategies, and or generalised counselling. Clinical Active Hold appointments will be scheduled for core business hours. Other duties include sourcing appropriate mental health and wellbeing content, reviewing existing content on the Portal, and working collaboratively with other team members.
The Portal will be operational between 11am and 10pm Monday to Sunday. The core hours for the Clinical Youth Navigator position will span across Monday to Sunday with some ability to negotiate hours, and the potential to complete some work from home. To ensure team members are supported throughout the operating hours of the Portal, an on-call component will be shared across the Mental Health and Wellbeing Unit leadership team.
Qualification, certifications and/or security clearance
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, mental health, counselling or related fields
- Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP)
- National Police check
Desirable
- Registration as psychologist, social worker, counsellor or equivalent
