Clinician – Port Phillip Prison
We are currently seeking an experienced clinician to help us deliver a range of offending behavior assessments, interventions and programs to prisoners under our care.
As a clinician working in one of the largest prisons in the State you will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of offenders with complex offence histories, including those with mental health needs, intellectual disability, issues with addiction, and young adult offenders. Your work with these offenders will be focused on violent offending behavior.
This role requires a resilient approach and the ability to manage collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to secure the best outcomes for our prisoner cohort.
About the Role
- Screen and assess prisoners’ suitability for offending behaviour programs
- Deliver a range of programs and interventions both in group and individual format and provide program assessment, treatment and evaluation reports to key stakeholders
- Provide expert advice to G4S management on clinical service requirements and areas of risk
- Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders, including Corrections Victoria, DFFH, NDIS, Forensicare and St Vincent’s Correctional Health, to obtain the best outcomes for offenders
- Provide critical incident support and crisis intervention support to the wider prison cohort

The successful applicant will:
- Must hold registration as a Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or Mental Health Nurse
- Have demonstrated experience working with offenders or a demonstrated understanding of offending behaviour and the criminogenic needs of offenders
- Have the ability to successfully engage with and assess people from diverse backgrounds, including those from high-risk groups, in particular those presenting with challenging and complex backgrounds and behaviours
- Have demonstrated ability to organise, prioritise and complete tasks in response to changing demands
