Community Case Worker – Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services – Incentives Offered

This position is graded as Social Worker Level 1/2, Occupational Therapist Level 1/2 or Counsellor Level 1/2, Registered Nurse or Psychologist.

About the position:

As a Community Case Worker within Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services, you will provide assessments and counselling to clients with a substance use history and will make appropriate referrals to other services as needed. You will join a team of highly qualified staff in Drug and Alcohol Services land will participate in clinical reviews with your peers. 

You will be provided with support from the Senior Counsellor, the Nurse Unit Manager and the Clinical Lead for Allied Health. There is an extensive orientation program for the successful applicant with monthly education sessions provided by Drug and Alcohol Services to support your continued professional development and career growth.

About You:

The successful applicant will have the ability to assess the needs of referrals and provide appropriate counselling to clients of the service and health pathways. You will also possess high level communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate must have the ability to and be willing to travel to various sites as needed. 

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. 

A third COVID-19 dose is a requirement for Category A positions, as is one dose of the current Southern hemisphere influenza vaccine registered for use by the TGA. COVID-19 booster doses are highly recommended for all other health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases – this is a Category A position. Please read and understand NSW Health policy directive (PD2022_030). All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in the policy.To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable local candidate is identified for the position; in this instance, you may only be offered employment in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
