An exciting opportunity exists for experienced, enthusiastic mental health clinicians to join the dynamic Northern Beaches Child and Youth Mental Health Service (NB CYMHS). NB CYMHS is a multi-disciplinary community mental health service providing specialist assessment and intervention to children and young people experiencing severe and complex mental health difficulties through a range of individual, family based and group therapy interventions.
Part-time and full-time opportunities are currently available within the team in both intake/stabilisation clinic (brief intervention) focused roles and medium term partnership clinician roles. These positions are currently available as a result of funding enhancements to the existing clinical team. These new positions will aim to increase clinical service capacity across the Northern Beaches area based out of the Brookvale, Mona Vale and Dalwood Community health centres.

Where you’ll be working
Primarily based at Brookvale Community Health Centre, the NB CYMHS community clinicians will also provide clinical services from the Mona Vale and Dalwood community health centre locations as required.

The intention of the NSLHD MHDA is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence based practices and collaboration.
The CYMHS community clinician works within the multi-disciplinary clinical team comprised of Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers, Psychologists, Clinical Nurse Consultants / Specialists, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists and a Psychiatry Registrar. The NB CYMHS clinicians provide specialist comprehensive assessment, crisis support and safety planning, brief targeted interventions through the ‘stabilisation clinic’ stream and medium term psychological interventions (both individual and family-based) through partnership episodes of care to children, young people and/or their families impacted by moderate to severe mental health difficulties. The CYMHS clinician will have access to individual and group supervision, training and opportunities to work alongside other CYMHS clinicians in a ‘co-therapist’ role to support continued professional development across a range of clinical modalities.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy and Nursing. Clinical Psychologists must have minimum postgraduate Masters in Clinical Psychology and current registration with AHPRA. For Social Work, experience as a Level 2 clinician and eligibility for membership of AASW. Occupational Therapist must have current AHPRA registration and experience as a Level 2 clinician. CNS 2 must have AHPRA registration as a registered nurse and relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification. Welfare Officer must hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
- Relevant clinical mental health experience in a community setting which includes working with children and/or adolescents and their families.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the assessment, formulation and treatment of infant, child and adolescent mental health problems and family relationship problems.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both individually and within a multi-disciplinary team setting in a challenging and complex clinical environment with a proven capacity to contribute towards the team’s ongoing learning and development.
