Community Engagement Officer

Bullsbrook Location

Part Time – 15 hours per week – School Term

The Organisation

Meerilinga has operated since 1911. The children and community centres provide access to free, and fee paid children and community programs and activities, facilities use and information. Income generating activities including facility rental and licenced early learning programs operate from the centre.

 

Working in cooperation with the Bullsbrook community, particularly families with children, you will be responsible for connecting, developing, and maintaining relationships with families, community agencies and business. The position will establish links to existing community networks of libraries, community centres, business, allied health professionals, and sports clubs and through consultation identify other networks that will enhance early parenting and early childhood experiences for families in the Bullsbrook locality. You will be responsible for identifying and fostering services and materials that improve information and linkages to connect families.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience working with a range of family issues within early childhood and community sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of common issues faced by parents with baby’s 
  • Comprehensive knowledge, experience and understanding of the importance of the early years, parenting research and best practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work as an effective member of a team and contribute to the achievement of shared aims and objectives.
  • Ability to work without supervision in a diverse environment and well-developed time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an environment with limited resources.
  • Demonstrated computer and technology skills.
  • Ability to travel and work at other locations as required and out of hours work (evening and weekends) for occasional training, organisational and community events.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Certificate III in Community Services, Family Services, Children’s Services or equivalent.
  • 2 years’ experience working in Children and Community services.
  • Provide Working with Children Card and National Police Clearance Certificate on commencement and maintained for duration of employment.
  • Maintain a current Western Australian Driver’s Licence, third party insurance and a reliable vehicle for transport for the duration of employment.
