Community Literacy Outreach Worker

This is you opportunity to support the development of adult foundational and digital literacies across the Penrith and Blue mountains communities.

Two years part time, 3 days a week with the potential for an ongoing position.

Post Secondary Education Award (MA00075) Level 7-8 General Staff ( $38.51 to $43.36 per hour)

 

Your purpose Extending the College’s community sector networks to implement the College’s Family Learning Culture Strategy, LLND assessment services to the community and developing Collaborative Service Delivery projects facilitating engagement in education and training for disadvantaged cohorts within the Penrith and Blue Mountains communities..

 

Your reward will be to create a new level of community led development, growing the Community College’s links with its community and the development of innovative education services.

 

Your responsibilities will be to:

Extending the College’s community sector networks.

Implementing the College’s Family Learning Culture Strategy through Primary and Secondary Schools 

Providing Language, Literacy and Numeracy  (LLN) and Digital Literacy (D) assessment services to the community through Libraries, Neighbourhood Centres and Community Service organisations.

Designing and developing Collaborative Service Delivery projects facilitating engagement in education and training for disadvantaged cohorts within the Penrith and Blue Mountains communities. Establishing a baseline Community Engagement map of College relationships and levels of participation of cohorts of disadvantage within the community.

Identifying and documenting of the range of cohorts of disadvantage the College currently and historically provides for.

Developing a strategic overview of key cohorts with Literacy, Language and Digital Literacies needs within the Penrith and Blue Mountains LGAs. 

Identifying and documenting formal and informal networks within the priority cohorts of disadvantage in the community.

Establishing and maintaining relationships with, and where appropriate participation in, those networks.

Identifying and documenting community and government organisations providing services for and acting as gateway services to those cohorts.

 

Your key relationships will be:

External: Community Services, Local Government, Government Services, Primary Schools, Local Area Peak bodies.

Internal: Principal. Student Engagement Facilitator. Program Manager. Trainers.
