The Role:

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Community Mental Health Clinician (Grade Two Occupational Therapist/Social Worker/Psychologist or Grade 3 registered Psychiatric Nurse) to join the Hume Community Team within Northern Health’s Mental Health Division. We are located centrally in Broadmeadows- close to Public Transport and parking options.

The Hume Community team is a large, supportive and dynamic team made up of staff that are truly passionate and motivated in supporting consumers and their families/carers. We provide a comprehensive range of specialist mental health services to people who reside in the local government areas of Moreland and Hume.

This role involves working in conjunction with other members of the treating team to support a designated group of consumers requiring medium to long term specialist mental health support through assessment, delivering targeted mental health interventions and co-ordinating care.

With support of the Acute function of the team you will provide acute assessment and intervention for these designated consumers when needed. This role is predominately business hours but there is the option of working a small number of shifts with the acute function of the team.

This position is available as full or part time.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • The appropriate qualifications as a Grade 2 Psychologist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or Grade 3 Registered Psychiatric Nurse.
  • Passion about contributing positively to the lives of consumers with mental illness and their families
  • Experience in the provision of Psychiatric assessment and intervention for consumers with a mental illness – preferably in a public mental health setting but this is not essential
  • Ability to provide general and discipline specific mental health assessment and intervention
  • Ability to work as part of a team but also able to work autonomously
