JOB DESCRIPTION

APD Mental Health Support work with people suffering psychosocial disabilities.

We are seeking a Mental health support worker to join our growing team supporting NDIS participants at home and in the community in the Albury Wodonga area.

About the role:

You will be responsible for supporting NDIS participants experiencing psychosocial disabilities to work towards the goals outlined in their NDIS plan.
You will work with each of your clients for an agreed amount of hours per week, depending on the funding that is available in their NDIS plan, and their own preferences.

Some of your duties may include supporting the participant to access the community, addressing areas of daily life, attending appointments, assistance with domestic duties, developing mental health recovery/support plans and facilitating group supports.

Essential requirements:

Successful candidates must meet the following essential criteria:

– Minimum cert IV in Mental health, community services or equivalent, or working towards.

– Working with children’s check and current police check (or willing to obtain)

– Current first aid and CPR certificate (or willing to obtain)

– Own roadworthy vehicle

About you:

Successful candidates will be respectful, patient and understanding while working with participants living with mental illness and understanding of the daily impacts and barriers that Mental health can have on people, as well as ideally fitting the following criteria;

– Previous experience in community services, disability employment services, mental health services or similar
– Demonstrated skills/experience to effectively identifying and engaging successfully with various stakeholders.
– Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience writing reports and case notes.
– Ability to build strong mainstream and community networks
– The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people to build trust and develop rapport.
– The ability to work independently.
– A positive attitude!
