We have opportunities for two psychiatrists to join us as a VMO at our new specialist private mental health hospital in Toowoomba, Qld.  The Toowoomba Clinic is well managed, has a contemporary evidence-based approach to patient care and offers a wide range of therapies to patients who are extremely happy with the treatment they receive.

Join a collaborative multicultural team which includes visiting medical specialists, doctors, a clinical psychosexual therapist, psychologists, a dietician, exercise physiologist and mental health nurses.  Applications from practitioners with an interest in either general adult, child-adolescent, older person psychiatry, or addiction are welcome. 

There are 2 opportunities available.  You can choose to operate from an established group practice (with full support provided), or you can  commence practice from a commonwealth funded Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Medical Service with an expectation of supporting some of their clients relying on Medicare funding – you would be able to devote 75% of your time to privately funded patients.  

Ideally applicants will have FRANZCP, specialist registration with AHPRA we are willing to consider applications from psychiatrists with international medical qualifications requiring a Section 19AB exemption for a Medicare Provider Number granted by the Federal Health Minister as well as considering doctors from countries which are regarded as having comparable professional standards for consideration by the RANZCP to commence on the Fellowship pathway (as that supervision can be provided).
