JOB DESCRIPTION

Cedar College (SA) is seeking a qualified counsellor to coordinate our Cedar Care department and provide biblical guidance to students whose mental health and wellbeing is challenged from various factors.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Position Title: Cedar Care Coordinator
Commencing: Term 1, 2023
Type: 38 hours per week, 41 weeks per year, permanent + 4 holiday weeks paid

Reports to: Relevant Sub-School Director, College Pastor
FTE Salary: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a qualified counsellor and as a leader, the Cedar Care Coordinator is responsible for the smooth running of the Cedar Care faculty to support the wellbeing of Cedar College students. This role requires a high degree of initiative, discretion, and capacity to program individual work, and the work of the Cedar Care team. As a professional, the Cedar Care Coordinator will work with their staff team, school leaders, colleagues, families, and external agencies to support the wellbeing of students within the College. The Cedar Care Coordinator is to approach their role with a Christian Worldview, and undertake their role in line with the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the College as determined by the College Pastor and College Leadership Team.

Cedar Care exists to provide pastoral care to students whose mental health and wellbeing is challenged from various factors. Through supportive listening and biblical guidance, our aim is to develop the young person and equip them to face these challenges while still undertaking their education.

PERSONAL QUALITIES AND REQUIREMENTS
The successful applicant will work closely with the Cedar Care team, the College Pastor and College Leadership.

They will have a vibrant, growing relationship with God and be a committed member of their local church. They will be able to work effectively as part of a team in a collaborative and unified manner and have excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and communication skills with staff, students, and parents. They will be teachable, and committed to the vision, ethos and strategic direction of the College. The ability to counsel in-line with a Christian Worldview is essential.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS AND CHECKS

  • Masters level of qualification in the counselling field, or equivalent
  • A member of a professional body i.e., PACFA, ACA
  • Current RHHAN-EC Certificate (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care)
  • Current WWCC (Working with Children Check)
  • Protective Practices online course completion (can be completed prior to commencement of employment)
  • Experience in an education setting is desired
  • The successful applicant will be required to adhere to the College’s COVID-19 vaccination policy.
