About the opportunity
IFYS has an exciting opportunity to fill the role of Semi Independent Living (SIL) Coordinator to oversee the day to day operations of a new Child Protection SIL program. The Semi-Independent Living Program provides Case Management, direct living skills training and support to young people residing in the Semi-Independent accommodation. This role leads a team of SIL Youth Workers and has overall accountability for ensuring the provision of trauma informed therapeutic care to young people.

Key responsibilities of the SIL Coordinator:
- Manage and oversee the day to day running of the Semi Independent Living Program
- Provide leadership and management of all staff members within the program
- Ensure that the program provides trauma informed therapeutic care to young people within a safe and environment
- Provide direct case management, training of life skills, coaching and support to young people
- Manage positive relationships with all stakeholders
- Facilitate and attend relevant meetings including household meetings and stakeholder meetings
- Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and ensure the program adheres to all reporting and documentation requirements
- Write Safety Plans and contribute to Positive Behavior Support Plans
- Attend critical appointments with young people as a support person and advocate
- Complete rosters two weeks in advance, and ensure smart rostering and industrial compliance
- Work collaboratively with the Business Support Officer to ensure the effective on-boarding of new staff members
Requirements for the role:
- Experience working in a leadership position in a similar field
- A relevant tertiary qualification, Diploma level or higher
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the capacity to motivate and empower a team to achieve positive outcomes
- Sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively
- Exceptional time management and prioritisation skills
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining program compliance
- A continuous learning mindset
Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful:
- Valid Queensland driver’s license with no restrictions
- QLD Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card)
- Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2)
- National Crime Check (IFYS will complete a new check through our systems)
