About the role
As our Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner based in Brisbane, you will deliver high level, evidenced-based clinical advice and professional information for Children with a disability.
Through applying evidence-based approaches you will reduce the impact of challenging behaviour across the organisation by also demonstrating an application of your professional discipline within the context of contemporary behaviour support literature.
For those that are interested in becoming a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst, we are able provide in kind supervision to for those that have completed or are completing a Masters of Applied Behaviour Analysis.
On a weekly basis you will:
- Provide specialised support to children with a disability and their families
- Complete functional behaviour assessments and write Behaviour Support Plans based on evidence-based assessments and data.
- Communicate with a range of stakeholders, including allied health teams, school staff and families.
- Provide individualised training to stakeholders so they are able to effectively implement strategies.
- Develop skill building programs and implement them effectively to support children to learn new skills.
- Receive weekly supervision from a Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner to support you to manage your caseload and meet performance targets.
- Have a supervisor provide in person coaching during face-to-face visits to support continuous professional development.
- Implement, capture and analyse data in order to monitor the plan’s effectiveness, review challenging behaviour and make any changes where required.
About you
You have a passion for working with children and their families, are committed to creating better outcomes for children and their families and are able to work collaboratively in a work environment.
- Be assessed against the NDIS capability framework as either Core or Proficient practitioner
- Have high-level interpersonal skills and experience supporting people in situations of high emotions
- Demonstrate a high level communication skills to develop relationships with team members and stakeholders and deal with issues of a sensitive nature
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills to successfully identify problems, develop solutions and implement these using a logical and systematic approach

Essential requirements
- Degree qualified in allied health or social and behavioural sciences
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the discipline of service provision
- Experience and knowledge of challenging behaviour and intellectual disability
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating the provision of support to people living with a disability and their families and support networks
- Previous experience working with children with a disability.
- Hold a current QLD Drivers Licence
- Hold a current blue (working with children) and yellow (positive notice card) or be willing to obtain one
- Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
Highly desirable
- Postgraduate qualifications in allied health or social or behaviour sciences and or professional registration
- Experience implementing positive behaviour support strategies with children with a disability
