We are seeking a Level A Counselling Lecturer, Clinical Supervisor for ACAPs’ online campus. This opportunity is suited to a passionate Counsellor and experienced Clinical Supervisor, driven to make a significant impact on the future generation of counselling professionals.
In this role, your primary focus will be providing clinical supervision to our Discipline of Counselling students during their field placement units. You’ll work closely with our Placement team, ensuring students are assigned to suitable placement sites, and facilitate weekly academic clinical supervision classes with small groups.
Responsibilities include:
- Facilitate clinical supervision for student counsellors during field placement units, providing them with valuable real-life experiences that integrate academic knowledge and counselling skills
- Act as a mentor and support system for students throughout their two consecutive trimesters of field placement at external agencies, fostering their professional development in authentic, real-world settings
- Encourage students to engage in self-reflection and critical thinking, enhancing their abilities to navigate challenging scenarios they may encounter in their counselling careers
- Ensure that students maintain high standards of professionalism, ethics, and legality during their placements, preparing them for the demands of real-life counselling practice
It is essential the successful candidate can demonstrate:
- A counselling qualification and experience that enables membership in either the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) or the Australian Counselling Association (ACA)
- A qualification as a Clinical Supervisor recognised by either the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) or the Australian Counselling Association (ACA)
- Professional experience deemed by the College to be equivalent in combination to at least one AQF Level above that of the Course they are required to deliver.
- Passion for teaching and empowering the next generation of Counsellors, with a commitment to continuous improvement
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills
