About Good News Lutheran College
Good News Lutheran College is situated on 20 acres in Tarneit, approximately 30 kms from the Melbourne CBD and has landscaped gardens, recreational spaces surrounding classrooms and buildings. The College also has a gymnasium, chapel, and sports ovals, along with new and modern facilities for Technologies, Science and Arts.
Good News Lutheran College aims to provide an educational pathway for each student by focusing on strong Christian values. Staff are expected to be engaged and contribute in leading of devotion when asked to serve and specifically lead class devotions in pastoral care on days where students do not attend chapel or assembly.
The College has grown significantly from a small group of 24 students who commenced in 1997, to its first Year 12s graduating at the end of 2016, and the 1000+ students on campus today.
About the Role:
We are currently seeking a Counselling Co-ordinator who is responsible for leading a team and whose role is to to coordinate wellbeing structures, policies and practices to support students and staff at the College.
The Counselling Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and provision of high-quality wellbeing services to students including secondary consultation and advice, wellbeing support, case management, crisis intervention including risk assessment, care coordination, advocacy, supportive counselling, referral and evaluation of options and services to meet student’s comprehensive psychosocial and wellbeing needs.
Selection Criteria
Experience and Knowledge
- Qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or as relevant to the role.
- Extensive relevant experience in case management, counselling and wellbeing support including membership of a relevant professional body (AASW – Social Work, registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health practitioner Regulation Agency)
- Demonstrated experience in case roles with experience in managing complex psychosocial issues, behavioral management, crisis intervention, risk assessment and managing a demanding case load.
- Demonstrated knowledge of policy, reporting and legislative requirements associated with Child Safety and Information Sharing.
