An exciting and dynamic Gambling Counsellor vacancy has become available for the Addictions Program within CatholicCare Sydney. Work within a dynamic team providing quality care to clients of our program. This position is full-time and based at Fairfield (South Western Sydney). Experienced clinicians with a second language, like Arabic, Assyrian, Mandarin, or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply.
What you’ll be doing…
The Gambling Counsellor will be responsible for the provision of community engagement, support, counselling, and treatment to people experiencing gambling harm and those affected by other people’s gambling across NSW. You will provide face to face, over the phone and/or digital person-centred professional counselling to flexibly meet the needs of individuals, couples and families, to assist them address and overcome problem gambling and its impacts.
We are seeking high calibre, experienced and qualified counsellor with expertise in the gambling counselling field and a commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence informed, person centred services that meet client and funding stakeholder needs.
You will be involved in supporting a culture that reflects the values of our organisation. You will also play a key role in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with partner organisations and internal and external stakeholders.
What you will need…
To be a successful candidate you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, and equivalent demonstrated experience
- Membership of appropriate professional bodies (ie. AHPRA/APS, AASW, ACA, CAPA or PACFA)
- Experience in working with clients with problem gambling or clients with addictions
- Understanding of the needs and issues of the partners or other family members or friends affected by addictions and/or problem gambling and knowledge of current child protection legislation
- Strong digital literacy and experience using digital platforms and client information systems
- Ability to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders and referrers internally and externally
- Ability to conduct community engagement activities with the aim of building referral pathways
- Demonstrated experience in working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- A valid Working With Children Check verification
- Ability to travel
