JOB DESCRIPTION

Anglicare SQ supports all kinds of people who may be impacted by mental health and wellbeing challenges, from new parents to children transitioning through school, and everything in between.  We are here to provide the support needed at home or out in the community, for people to live the life they want.

We are looking for an experienced Counsellor to work with our Alcohol & Other Drugs Program within the Drug Diversion unit. The position will be based in Toowoomba for a fixed term twelve months contract working 8.20am – 5.15pm three days per week (50.4hrs a fortnight)

About You

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Current National Police Certificate
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
  • Current Blue Card 
  • eligible to apply for Membership with APS, AASW, ACA, or other relevant professional body and evidence of recent practice
  • Degree in Psychology, Social Work or another relevant field
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health (desired)
  • Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of drug and alcohol assessment, case management, intervention strategies & counselling services as they relate to the programs of Anglicare or willingness to learn
  • Good interpersonal skills, including a high standard of written and oral communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • A sound understanding of the professional, ethical and legal requirements that underpin the treatment and clinical management of substance misuse problems.
  • Proven experience and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team structure with minimum supervision.
  • Maturity and emotional resilience with the ability to self-care effectively
  • Collaborative, friendly and professional approach; able to use initiative & sound judgement in decision making
  • Demonstrated organisational and self-management skills with the ability to prioritise your own workload whilst working within a team environment
  • Flexibility and availability to work outside of normal business hours as required
  • Current COVID-19 Vaccination certificate
