Counsellor – Full time

About the role
 
Facilitate and support evidence-based treatment for young people using methamphetamine, alcohol and other drugs, tailored to individual need and stage of change. In addition, it will work to promote linkages with broader health services, including mental health services, to better support integrated/coordinated treatment and referral pathways to support young people with co-morbid mental health and substance use issues
 
Your main duties will include:
  • Make available a range of individual supports for young people
  • Provide alcohol and other drugs consultation, information and education to members of the headspace team.
  • Develop Individual therapeutic supports
  • Evaluating and altering the client service plan in relation to changing clients’ needs in consultation with the client and services.
  •  
About you
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work or other relevant behavioural science counselling.
  • Registration or eligibility for membership with relevant professional/ discipline body
  • Demonstrated superior skills /experience in counselling drug and alcohol clients with complex needs, using a range of modalities e.g. CBT, DBT, ACT
  • Demonstrated experience in psychosocial assessment, case management and advocacy.
  • Experience in developing and delivering education programs and group facilitation with AOD clients
  • Working with Children’s Check 
  • Current unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence
