Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Counsellor/Case Manager to join our Community Wellbeing Team in Alice Springs. The Counsellor/Case Manager will be responsible for providing trauma-informed counselling and case management support to clients across two programs: Specialist Elder Abuse Services (SEAS) and Disability Royal Commission Counselling Services (DRCCS). The successful candidate will work closely with individuals and their families to address their specific needs, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
Responsibilities:
- Provide trauma-informed counselling and comprehensive case management to clients enrolled in the SEAS and DRCCS programs.
- Conduct assessments of client needs, including risk assessments, safety planning, and goal setting, in office, in the community or at clients’ residence
- Coordinate appropriate referrals to internal and external service providers as needed.
- Collaborate with other members of the Community Wellbeing Team and other therapeutic staff to ensure holistic support for clients.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Engage in outreach activities within the community to raise awareness about elder abuse prevention and disability advocacy.
- Represent RA-NT positively, foster positive relationships with stakeholders including community organisations, government agencies, healthcare professionals.

Essential Skills:
- Strong clinical practice skills with experience in trauma-informed care approaches.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for building rapport with diverse populations including older people experiencing elder abuse or individuals affected by disability-related violence.
- Ability to work autonomously while also being a team player within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Effective problem-solving abilities coupled with strong organisational skills for managing multiple cases simultaneously.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or equivalent.
- Previous experience in counselling and case management, preferably within the social care or community services sector.
- Experience working with older people, individuals affected by disability, or those experiencing trauma would be highly regarded.
- Driver’s License.
Requirements:
• A satisfactory Northern Territory working with children check.
• A satisfactory national criminal history check.
• A commitment to our Safeguarding Children Practice and Behaviour Guidelines.
