Catholic Care Western Sydney is currently looking for counsellors who are happy to work across a diverse portfolio (family, financial, solo parents for example) or would prefer to specialise in one counselling area.As a counsellor within our Family Counselling team, you’ll use your counselling experience to support individuals and families and truly make a difference in their lives.
These positions are being offered as full time or part time temporary until 30 June 2026. However there is opportunity for extension if the funding for our counselling programmes to be continued.
Catholic Care Western Sydney and Blue Mountains welcomes applications from recently graduated counsellors to join the team and be mentored by very experienced colleagues.
Your opportunity
In this role, you’ll bring your passion for working closely with vulnerable clients to support them by providing best practice counselling services. You will do this by:
- Providing evidence based psychological therapy and counselling services
- Facilitating educational or therapeutic groups as required
- Maintaining an agreed clinical caseload and up to date client case files
- Providing advocacy, support and referral for clients
- Contributing to general counselling activities and resources.
- Attending interagency meetings and other external meetings as required.
- Maintaining timely data entry on database systems
- Undertaking and adhere to specifications for training and supervision
- Adhering to Catholic Care and relevant practices and protocols
What you’ll bring
- We’d love to see that you have a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling.
- Current membership of relevant professional body
- A minimum of 12 months clinical practice experience in counselling, social work, psychology or as deemed relevant by Catholic Care is preferred but not essential.
- Experience in facilitating psycho-educational workshops as a counsellor or a student
- Ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Competent in relevant computer applications, and data entry. As well as an ability to learn and adapt to new computer systems
- Current NSW Drivers Licence – P1 or above (Motor Cycle Licence may be considered)
- Own or have access to a well maintained vehicle.
