Our Kalgoorlie office has an opportunity for a full-time Counsellor in the Family Domestic Violence program.
This program provides strength focused responses that assist women and men to find solutions to their problems through information, short term support and safety planning. Formal counselling and support services provide planned, and goal directed interventions that assist women, men, children and young people deal with the effects of harms caused by involvement in or exposure to family and domestic violence.
A few specifics
- Be responsible for counselling caseload, case management requirements, and other allocated client related tasks.
- Conduct client assessments to inform the development of a case plan or appropriate referrals according to the clients identified needs.
- Develop and facilitate training seminars throughout the metropolitan and regional Western Australia as needed.
- Develop and maintain respectful, supportive, collaborative, and responsive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop strategies and facilitate individual and family functioning within the context of Family Abuse.
- Co-facilitate and evaluate groups.
Selection Criteria
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications, i.e., relevant to counselling (e.g., psychology, social work and/or related social sciences) with eligibility for membership of a relevant professional association.
- At least 4 years’ experience in the provision of supervised short-term counselling to a diverse client group presenting with a range of personal and work-related issues.
- Experience training other employees
- Able to work independently
- Capacity to travel outreach
- High level interpersonal and communications skills.
- National Police Clearance
- Working with Children Check
