Continuing, part time appointment – 0.6 FTE 
Professional Level 7 Salary – $91,642 to $100,594 pa (pro rata)
Plus 17% superannuation and 4 weeks annual leave (pro rata)

Provide group wellbeing sessions and individual counselling sessions for students at CDU’s Sydney campus 

About the Position
As a Counsellor, you will provide regular group wellbeing sessions and short-term individual counselling sessions for students experiencing personal, family, mental health, or wellbeing concerns that are affecting their study. You will undertake trauma informed counselling intake, triage and counselling functions, including assessment of suitability, safety, urgency, and referral options, liaising with other CDU staff members and external services as required. 

About You
To be successful, you will require:

  • Completion of a relevant degree (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Counselling) and registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant Professional Association.
  • Extensive Counselling and group work experience along with highly developed interpersonal skills that include the ability to communicate effectively within a cross cultural environment comprising both students and staff in a tertiary education context.\
  • Demonstrated commitment towards maintaining high professional standards including the capacity to maintain client confidentiality and knowledge of the relevant legislation within which the University operates.
  • Capacity to work in an ethical and professional manner, working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using a diverse range of computer software, including office management packages, and client management systems.
  • Ensure professional judgments are ethical and non-discriminatory adhering to relevant legislation, CDU policies and procedures and the relevant Professional Association guidelines for professional conduct.

This is a part time role (3 days a week) and the successful candidate will need to be available to work Wednesdays and Thursdays and either Tuesdays or Fridays.

Remuneration 
Appointment to this role will be at Professional Level 7 and the base salary will be in the range of $91,642 to $100,594 per annum (pro rata). The total remuneration package will be in the range of $107,221 to $117,694 per annum (pro rata), including 17% superannuation.
