About the role
South West Healthcare (SWH) is seeking applications for the position of Counsellor within the Social Work and Counselling Team. This is a permanent part time position 40 hours per fortnight.
Within this role you will assist patients and their families to adjust to complex and chronic health issues and associated feelings of grief and loss, trauma and difficult life events. The role works alongside health care specialists to assist patients to navigate the complexities of chronic disease and future planning needs.
Counsellor will facilitate psychosocial support, and general counselling within an interdisciplinary team to patients and families within South West Healthcare. The role may also involve outreach to other South West Health Care Campuses as required.
What you bring
The successful applicant will have a tertiary qualification in a discipline such as Counselling, Social Work, Psychology or relevant field. You will have clinical experience of providing 1:1 counselling and group sessions utilising a broad range of counselling techniques. Applicants must have excellent team building, interpersonal and communications skills with an ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team setting.
Applicants with experience in a health setting are preferred.
