About the role
Working as part of the Community Health Team, the Counsellor sits within a vibrant multidisciplinary team of counsellors who love what they do. Based at Healesville Hospital in the beautiful Yarra Valley (only 20 minutes from Lilydale), the Counselling Team provides individual counselling and group work for members of the community. Individual counselling and group work seeks to address a range of human issues across the lifespan, including anxiety, depression, grief & loss, trauma history and other mental health issues.
As part of the wider Eastern Health network, the Counsellor will receive clinical and operational supervision and the opportunity to participate in reflective practice and internally provided professional development. The Counsellor will also have access to a range of additional allied health professionals within the Community Health Team to support holistic client centred care.
About you
As the successful applicant, you will:
- Be eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or
- Registration endorsement in the Approved Area of Practice of Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology or Counselling Psychology or eligibility to participate in a registrar program to work towards endorsement in Clinical Psychology.
- Provide counselling services, comprising:
- The provision of individual counselling, assessment and advocacy for children, young people and adults, often from disadvantaged or vulnerable backgrounds
- The provision of referral and linkage to additional services as required
- The development and implementation of group work programs
- Liaison and consultation with other professionals, including Child Protection, Family Violence Services and Mental Health Services
- Participation in Counselling intake, as required
- Provide consultation to other professionals, particularly in regard to issues of clinical risk
- Inform, resource and liaise with the Senior Counsellor or Team Leader, primarily on issues relating to the therapeutic work of the service
