COUNSELLOR EDUCATOR – Cyrenian Central

Full-time (Code CEFTCC)

About the role

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for the role of Counsellor Educator to join our Residential Pathways Program team (RPP).

The Counsellor Educator’s role is to provide proficient, culturally secure counselling, assessment, case management, education and support to consumers and their families and the local community. The primary focus of the role is to assess suitability for treatment within one of Cyrenian House’s residential therapeutic communities as well as offering case management support. The Counsellor Educator will possess a sound level of clinical knowledge and skills, together with well-established work practices that exercise initiative and sound judgment. 

The position is full-time (76 hours per fortnight) and will be located from Cyrenian Central on Fitzgerald Street, Perth. Position is level 4 – level 5 $87,0643 – $102,823 per annum pro rata.

The successful candidate will require: 

  • A degree in social, behavioural or health sciences or equivalent experience in the alcohol and drug sector. 
  •  Demonstrated skills and experience in assessment and case management, including referral. 
  •  Well-developed counselling skills. 
  •  Experience in group facilitation. 
  •  Willingness to develop an understanding of Aboriginal culture and Aboriginal family systems. 
  •  Demonstrated understanding of drug and alcohol issues, particularly mental health and AOD issues, impacting on the health of individuals and their families. 
  •  Demonstrated and well developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication. 
  •  Experience in working as part of a team. 
  •  Full Work Rights, a current Police Clearance, current First Aid Certificate and current Drivers Licence.
