COUNSELLOR EDUCATOR

Munda Mia Therapeutic Community C (MMTC)

We are seeking an experienced, qualified, and innovative professional to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high quality counselling support and treatment for residents of our Munda Mia Therapeutic Community, (MMTC) based in Kalamunda. 

Munda Mia TC is 20-bed women only facility, offering AOD, residential treatment where women have the opportunity to bring their children into treatment.  Our program has a specific focus on working with women who have experienced family and domestic violence in addition to their problems with alcohol and/or other drugs. 

The program also addresses housing and homelessness issues and working with co-occurring mental health conditions. 

As Counsellor Educator you will provide a range of specialised AOD treatment services within the TC including, group facilitation, individual AOD and wellbeing recovery treatment, care planning, care coordination and case management including working with external services and providers where required.

This is a female only position due to the supervision of female urinalysis (Division 5 section 27 of the Equal Opportunities Act 1984 allows for this position to be filled by a female only)

Level 4- Level 5 $87,064 – $102,823

The successful candidate will require: 

  • A degree in social, behavioural or health sciences or equivalent experience in the alcohol and drug sector. 
  • Demonstrated and well-developed counselling and group facilitation skills. 
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team. 
  • Knowledge of alcohol and drug issues. 
  • Knowledge and expertise in working with impacts of Family and Domestic Violence and the correlation with AOD issues.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with children and in parenting skills. 
  • Experience in working with consumers from diverse backgrounds and different cultural groups. 
  • Demonstrated and well developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
  • Experience in delivering education and training programs to human service providers and community groups. 
  • Current First Aid Certificate, National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check and current Drivers Licence.
