About the Role:
Supporting clients from all walks of life to overcome adversity, build resilience, to enhance their quality of life and relationships. Having experience across Family and Domestic Violence, Trauma with the willingness to work with both victims and perpetrators as this is a high percentage of our core business.
Providing counselling, support and specialist group programmes to individuals, couples, children and families through collaborative practices that are trauma informed, evidence based and psycho-educational, by:
- Maintaining a clinical counselling caseload, (including after-hours appointments when required) within the hours, days and at the location determined by the relevant local manager in accordance with yearly interview targets
- Maintaining relevant clinical case notes in accordance with Community Services policies and procedures
- Organising and facilitating the delivery of psycho-educational and therapeutic groups for clients
- Undertaking thorough assessments of the risk factors for clients and other persons with particular regard to family violence and child protection.
- Maintaining a good knowledge of other relevant services and make client referrals as appropriate.
- Developing (where appropriate) and participating in client outcomes activities

About You:
You will be an experienced counsellor who has a genuine passion for working within the community. The successful applicant will bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in (e.g. Psychology, Counselling, Social Work) and has clinical membership with a relevant professional body (e.g. PACFA – Psychotherapy, Counsellors ACA or AASW)
- Experience working with a wide range of clients including, individual, couple, child focused and family counselling within a trauma-informed practice
- Skills and experience in group work, assessment, therapeutic interventions and capacity to provide culturally appropriate counselling responses to clients
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, an ability to work collaboratively with a team
- Ability to apply technical knowledge and skills professionally and operate within accepted practices, styles & legal/ethical standards
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice outcomes
- A valid WWCC for paid employment purposes
Desirables:
- Training and experience working with men and women in a DFV context
- Mental Health First Aid
- Current drivers licence
- Specialised skills/training in Family therapy
