ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Senior Social Worker, this role provides counselling and therapeutic case management support for young children and their families accessing our services. In this role you will assist children and young people to recover from their experience of family violence trauma through the delivery of evidence based and trauma informed therapeutic counselling and support. This will include a range of developmental and age appropriate techniques and tools within a counselling/therapeutic setting.

This program provides services and facilitated referral pathways for the child/ren’s family members to relevant support services where mental health risk factors are emerging. The successful candidates will work flexibly with children in individual and group settings.

This is a full time fixed-term contract until 30 June 2024, with a possibility for extension dependent on funding.

You are committed to delivering service excellence for our clients and providing the highest possible level of client safety. You will have strong communication skills with an ability to connect with your clients and take a person centred approach. More importantly you will be compassionate and respectful in all aspects of your work.

Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Counselling or relevant area.
  • Current unencumbered Driver’s Licence.
  • Evidence of full COVID vaccination.
  • Current Working with Children Check (NSW)
  • Demonstrated ability to work therapeutically with children and young people including the ability to work effectively with family members and other service providers
  • Knowledge and experience of working within marginalised communities
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both in written and verbal form.
  • Intermediate computer literacy skills including the Microsoft Office Suite.
