Counsellor – HIV

Full-time contract up to June 2023 with likelihood of 3 year extension

The Opportunity

We currently have a unique career opportunity for a talented, dynamic and passionate individual to provide short-term counselling interventions including crisis management to people living with HIV (PLHIV), people at risk of HIV and their significant others (those affected by HIV). You will also play an important role in undertaking clinical assessments of clients’ needs and create care plans aimed to improve client outcomes, as well as supporting PLHIV who report stigma and discrimination.

This role is made for an individual with tertiary qualifications, a minimum of five years of experience in counselling and with experience managing complex social and health issues with clients who present with issues related to mental health, sexual health, use of alcohol and other drugs and general wellbeing.

The successful applicant must be willing to provide a valid national police check. COVID-19 vaccination evidence is not mandatory, however, as WAAC is government funded by the Department of Health, and has previously been mandated to adhere to previous public health orders requiring all staff to be triple vaccinated, it may again become a condition of employment at WAAC for the successful candidate to produce vaccination evidence or be willing to be vaccinated in line with future WA Department of Health Public Health Orders.
