We now have an exciting opportunity for a Counsellor to join our team in the Centre for Education and Enhancement. You’ll achieve great work/life balance in this unique part-time role working 18.125 hours per week on a fixed-term basis through to October 2023. This position can be based at either the Cairns Nguma-bada campus or Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus. Remuneration is $97,118 – $111,524 per annum (pro-rata) plus up to 17% superannuation.
WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLE
Operating within a dedicated and committed team, you’ll support the safety, wellbeing and engagement of students enrolled at JCU by providing psychological counselling and expert mental health interventions based on best practice and evidence-based models. This rewarding opportunity will see you make a positive impact on the mental health and wellbeing culture among students, through the facilitation of workshops and psycho-educational programs, and through the provision of individual counselling, training, crisis intervention and debriefing, as well as psychometric assessment and referral to external services as required.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
As a qualified and skilled health professional, you bring proven experience working with complex and high-risk mental health presentations. You take a team-focused approach, operating as an active member of a multidisciplinary service function and working collaboratively across organisational boundaries and with external service providers. JCU is committed to ensuring the student experience is engaging and inclusive, which you will be able to demonstrate your appreciation for by discussing in the application your background working with a broad range of clients, including those from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, preferably in a tertiary setting. It is also a requirement of this position to hold and maintain ongoing registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, or membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers and to hold, or be eligible to obtain a Queensland Working with Children Blue Card.
