About Us
The Hunter Region Working Women’s Group (HRWWG) has been providing services to women and their families since 1974. Our group governs the Hunter Women’s’ Centre and the Hunter Early Childhood Centre and are driven by strong values of care, compassion and inclusiveness.
We are proud to have contributed to improving the physical, emotional and psychological health and well being of women and their families in the Hunter Region for the past 48 years.
As a not-for-profit organisation we continue to grow and re-invent ourselves, striving to provide the best quality counselling, education, social support and childcare to women and families experiencing disadvantage. With this vison to continually enrich and grow, we are currently seeking to employ a motivated and passionate person to join our Hunter Women’s Centre Team to assist with the Intake and Caseworker role.
About the Role
This role’s purpose is to provide women counselling, groups and workshops.
To improve the health and wellbeing of women who are experiencing difficulties and at risk of depression and anxiety due to relationship issues, domestic and family violence, childhood trauma and social and financial disadvantage.
Using a trauma-informed, strengths-based and client-centred model of care, counsellors facilitate the inclusion of women in their health and well-being and inform, support and advocate for marginalised and disadvantaged women.
Selection Criteria
To be considered for the position you must be able to address the essential criteria below;
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related field with a minimum of 2 years relevant working experience.
- Specialist knowledge and experience counselling and conducting therapeutic support groups.
- Sound specialist skills in assessing for and managing trauma appropriately.
- This role will be required to perform outreach services and travel to areas including regional and rural areas in the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) including the Upper Hunter
- Sound understanding and experience in culturally sensitive practice.
- Sound knowledge of child protection and effective therapies in supporting victims of sexual assault.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the operation of the team and work under limited direction.
- Good knowledge in the use of Microsoft and database programs.
Desirable CRITERIA
- Graduate or Post Graduate qualifications in Psychology
- Knowledge of Women’s Health issues
- Best Practice software and Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Knowledge of the Women’s Health sector for the area which you are applying.
