JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Part time till 30/06/2026 based in Nerang, work from various Gold Coast locations
  • $47.50 per hour (SCHADS Level 5B) + Salary Packaging benefits + 17.5% Leave loading

About the program

Carer Gateway is an Australian Government program providing free services and support for carers. Wellways Australia is the first point of contact for all Australian Government Carer Gateway funded services across Queensland. The aim of the Carer Gateway is to help Carers access practical information and advice and connect with services in their local area. Carer Gateway provides many services to support carers in their caring role, including in person and phone counselling services.

About the role

Utilise your expert knowledge, communication skills and empathy to deliver counselling services and therapeutic groups to Carers with the flexible application of evidence-based clinical therapies including Rogerian and CBT. Facilitating groups is a large part of our service and strong groupwork facilitation skills will be highly considered.

A large part of the role is committed to the development of and influencing community relationships to deliver counselling services to specific carer groups including LGBTI community, young carers from rural and/or remote communities as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The successful applicant will be required to work from various Gold Coast locations offices. The role may also require flexibility to potentially work in the Scenic Rim/ Mt Tamborine region.

Skills & experience

  • Qualification in counselling, psychotherapy, or social work and should be eligible for counselling accreditation body such as AASW, ACA or PACFA.
  • A minimum of three years’ counselling experience in Australia including experience counselling children and adolescents
  • Experience working with young people and adults in individual and therapeutic group work settings will be highly valued, but not essential.
  • Experience in creating, analysing and utilising data and information to generate and develop a range of products (programs, publications, services)
  • An understanding and demonstrated commitment to social inclusion and diversity
  • Experience with clinical therapies including Rogerian and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Pre-employment requirements

  • Accreditation within an Australian professional association: minimum of PACFA provisional membership or ACA level 2
  • Evidence of working rights within Australia such as a passport or birth certificate
  • Professional indemnity insurance
  • A current valid Driver’s License
  • National Police Records Check (less than 12 months old)
  • Blue and Yellow Card or NDIS Worker Screening check (required prior to employment)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate – free online course
