Chrysalis Therapeutic Support Services is a registered NDIS provider for Positive Behaviour Support, Therapeutic Supports, life skills, family support, as well as assessment and training for carers, parents, and support workers. Overview of the role
Chrysalis Therapeutics is seeking a motivated and driven Counsellor and/or Play Therapist to join our Newcastle Therapeutics Team.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Play Therapy program to meet social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of participants working both individually and in groups
- Develop and refine referral and reporting mechanisms for ongoing dialogue
- Provide Play Therapy information to participants and their families
- Actively promote the Play Therapy and other creative therapeutic modalities.

About You
- A commitment to the Human Rights of children and adults living with disability.
- You will have experience working with a variety of people including children, teenagers and adults.
- Ability to work as a team and with limited supervision
- Ability to assess clients, evaluate progress and provide clear, concise written and verbal feedback to clients and staff
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of people.
- A high level of written and verbal communication skills, particularly in advocacy, negotiation and conflict resolution
- You will have a warm and engaging demeanour that makes clients feel comfortable and listened to
Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Play Therapy or related discipline
- Demonstrated ability to work with a range of theoretical approaches
- Experience in community-based counselling and treatment services for individuals and families
- Ability to apply understanding of duty of care, ethical practices and the Human Rights Framework when delivering services for individuals living with disability.
- Other qualifications specific to disability will be regarded as highly desirable
- Understanding of the relevant legislation and professional knowledge in the disability sector.
