About the Role

Meli is excited to advertise for the role of Counsellor or Senior Counsellor within our Therapeutic and Children’s Counselling Service. This role is part-time, fixed term until 30 June 2024 and is based at our Warrnambool Office.

We are seeking either a skilled senior counsellor with at least 2 years of relevant work experience or a recent counselling graduate who is ready to put their studies into practice. The position will provide counselling support for individuals and affected others who are experiencing gambling related harm and individuals, children/young people or families experiencing challenges in establishing, maintaining or strengthening family relationships.

We are seeking someone with knowledge and understanding of addictive behaviours, trauma-informed practice including an understanding of family violence, child development grief and loss and attachment theory.

Vacancy Details

  • Part-time, fixed term until 30 June 2024
  • Counsellor – $94,077 p/a (pro-rata) + super + salary packaging
  • Senior Counsellor – $102,791 p/a (pro-rata) + super + salary packaging

About You

Counsellor

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or related behavioural sciences.
  • An understanding of evidence based therapeutic approaches to counselling and knowledge of working with addictive behaviours in a therapeutic setting.
  • Ability to provide assessments and counselling interventions.
  • Knowledge of trauma theory, grief and loss and attachment theory.
  • Knowledge of the broader client services system, legislation, support services and organisations.

Senior Counsellor

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or related behavioural sciences with a minimum of two years relevant industry experience.
  • An understanding of evidence based therapeutic approaches to counselling and knowledge of working with addictive behaviours in a therapeutic setting.
  • Ability to provide comprehensive assessments and counselling interventions.
  • Knowledge of trauma theory, grief and loss and attachment theory.
  • Knowledge of the broader client services system, legislation, support services and organisations.
