The Role
As a Child and Family Counsellor, you will work with children and their parents/carers/family in the service or school environment. You will support new referrals to the service and work with children and families to provide clinical assessments to deliver holistic action and intervention to address their safety goals and psychosocial needs. You will provide wide scope of therapy and support using evidence-based therapeutic interventions including play therapy, acceptance commitment therapy and other techniques to provide general counselling, education, training and therapeutic interventions to children, young people and their families and careers.
To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria:
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification or equivalent in Psychology, Social Work, or counselling and eligibility for membership of a relevant professional association.
- Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience in adult therapeutic setting
- Significant therapeutic experience in early intervention with clients aged 5 and up.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Queensland child protection system including relevant legislation such as the Child Protection Act 1999
- A COVID-19 vaccination certificate is required in accordance with the Queensland Government Workers in a Healthcare Setting (COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements) Directive
- Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Pail Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with the policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society.
