Counsellor – Statewide Lifeline Tasmania

JOB DESCRIPTION

Who are we?

After more than four decades of service to the Tasmanian community, we remain steadfastly committed to our vision of a resilient Tasmania free of suicide.

Lifeline has been operating in Tasmania since 1973, commencing as two chapters (Lifeline North West and Lifeline Hobart) which merged in 2012 to form Lifeline Tasmania.

Lifeline Tasmania is now a single organisation incorporated in Tasmania, with state-wide reach and community connections.

Lifeline Tasmania’s values of Respect, Care and Support, Optimism, Inclusion and Social Leadership provide a framework of behaviours that guide the way we interact with each other, our clients and the community.

The Opportunity

  • Casual position
  • Statewide – intrastate travel required.
  • Salary packaging

Lifeline Tasmania Counsellors provide psycho-social education and support to clients and their families, and are steadfastly committed to a zero-tolerance policy towards abuse and neglect to all clients.

As a Counsellor at Lifeline Tasmania you support Lifeline Tasmania funded programs through the provision of counselling services and conduct individual, couple and family counselling sessions, whilst adhering to ethical and legal standards of counselling practice at all times.

You provide comprehensive, evidence-based clinical assessment and development of personalised treatment plans, and collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals and community resources where required.

Documentation will be maintained in line with organisational and professional membership requirements and you are committed to attending regular supervision and professional development opportunities to ensure you are up-to-date with the current industry best practice and trends.

All about you…

As a member of our Training and Support Program you will need an expert range of both technical and soft skills to be successful in this position.

Always embracing and respecting diversity, you provide effective support and assistance to all individuals. Your excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, negotiation, conflict resolution and liaison skills, combined with high level interpersonal and relationship management skills, allow you to build networks both within and external to the organisation.

You are a whizz at resource allocation, have proven capability and knowledge to manage projects and always ensure your work is prioritised effectively to meet deadlines and objectives.

Whether working cohesively as part of a team, or working autonomously, you show initiative and possess solid decision-making skills

You hold a Tertiary qualification in counselling, psychology, or mental health occupational therapy, with a minimum two years’ experience working in a therapeutic role.

Knowledge of, or experience working within, the Not-for-Profit Sector and demonstrated experience in the provision of EAP counselling would also be considered desirable in this position.
